KOOL ELEVATOR PARTS
a sonification of Budapest sourced from field recordings
The Kool Elevator Parts podcast focuses on developments and stories within the elevator industry. The company wants to make a young, fresh and friendly appearance, which is reflected in both the intro music and the sound logo of this podcast. In addition, references from the elevator world have been implemented into this music. Besides providing the musical material, Sem is also responsible for the audio editing and -mixing of this podcast.

Therefore the project is called “Buda’s Barrels”, as well as the first track. The second track is called “Madách Imre”, because of the location of these barrels. The recorded street ambiances form the basis of the intro, interludes, and outro in both tracks. Musical and melodic elements in these tracks, such as pads, synths and several effects, are also designed from these ambiances. Three video's of this sound design process can be seen below.
This collection of raw material from Budapest results in unique auditory experiences and a distinctive artistic expression. By converting these surroundings into machines, “Buda’s Barrels” results in a sonic landscapes that immerse listeners in danceable sonifications of biotic rhythms and organic textures.
